Business efficiency consultant
who quantifies the leak before touching anything.
Across 19 owner-managed South African businesses we have recovered more than R12.4 million by measuring where cost, time and cash actually go — then fixing the largest leak first. Diagnostic research and planning take 2–3 weeks.
What it is
A business efficiency consultant measures how work, cost and cash move through a business, quantifies each point of loss in rand, and rebuilds the operation so the same team produces more margin without additional headcount or spend.
What the engagement covers
1.Week 1 — baseline the real numbers
We rebuild the last full trading year from source records: bank, payroll, supplier, stock and contract data. Almost every engagement starts by showing the owner a cost picture that differs from the management accounts, because the summary hides the drivers.
2.Weeks 2–3 — research, workflow analysis and planning
We follow the main revenue-producing process end to end and record where work waits, repeats or is corrected. Research and planning take 2–3 weeks, with quantified findings expressed as annual rand ranges and the calculations shown.
3.Week 3 — test pricing, suppliers and utilisation
Contract terms, escalations, minimum charges, price lists and labour utilisation are checked against what is actually being billed and worked. This is where silent margin erosion sits most often, and where the fastest recoveries usually come from.
4.Week 4 — ranked plan with named accountability
You receive an ordered 90-day plan: largest recoverable value against lowest disruption first, with the owner or manager accountable for each item named and a measurement point set for each fix.
5.Beyond week 4 — measure, then compound
Fixes are only real once they show up in the numbers. Where you want implementation support, we stay in to run the plan and re-measure monthly rather than handing over a report and leaving.

Common questions
What does a business efficiency consultant actually do?
Three things in order: measure how cost, time and cash move through the business today; quantify each point of loss in rand; and rebuild the operation so the same team produces more margin. The measurement comes first, which is what separates it from generic advice.
What does a business efficiency consultant cost in South Africa?
The once-off Diagnostic & Foundations Pack is quoted as a definitive flat fee after your free 15-minute discovery call. Strategic Advantage is R8,500–R15,000 per fixed-scope project for one workflow and a targeted improvement roadmap; the standard quote is R12,500 subject to scope. Hands-on implementation, extra workflows and travel are quoted separately. Executive Partnership provides ongoing support at R20,000–R40,000 per month. Applicable VAT treatment is confirmed in writing.
How is this different from my accountant or bookkeeper?
An accountant reports what already happened, in the format SARS requires. An efficiency consultant explains why the numbers came out that way and quantifies what can be recovered by changing how the business runs. The two roles work alongside each other, not instead of each other.
How quickly will I see something concrete?
Diagnostic research and planning take 2–3 weeks. Findings are evaluated and prioritised before implementation; the timing of measurable results depends on the agreed changes.
What if you find nothing worth recovering?
Then you get that answer in writing, with the measurements behind it, and you stop spending on consultants. An honest nil finding is more useful than a padded report, and the free discovery call exists precisely to screen for this before you spend anything.
Do you work outside Gauteng?
Yes. Financial, contract and pricing analysis is done remotely nationwide. Workflow timing and throughput work is done on site — we run engagements in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha and Upington, and internationally on a remote-first basis.
